Doing nothing can be your choice, but living in a true mountain retreat affords you nearly limitless opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors during each of Tennessee's four distinct but mild seasons. In the quaint town of South Pittsburg, stroll through the original residential section, the historic core of the city. The 10,000 acre campus of “The University of the South,” one of the nation's top-ranked liberal arts colleges and a seminary of the Episcopal Church can be found in Sewanee. Annual events include: the Tennessee Williams Writers Conference, performing arts live theatre, classical and chamber music performances and guest lecture series. Monteagle has been the gateway to the communities of the Southern Cumberland Plateau since the late 1700s. Spelunking (cave exploring) abounds in the numerous limestone cave formations. You can also tour a winery that produces some of the world’s best known grape varieties and see the wine making process first hand.
